University gets the green light for new medical training centre

15th March 2012

Plans by Leicester University to build a medical training centre to house 2,350 staff and students have been approved.

Councillors agreed this week to give the go-ahead to revised plans for the £30 million six-storey centre on a site next to Regent College, on land at the corner of University Road and Lancaster Road.

Marcel wins the 2012 Individual award

Leicester School Sport Partnership Trust held an awards ceremony at the Leicester Tigers as part of Leicester’s Legacy “99 days To Go” on Thursday 19 April 2012; The awards ceremony was proud to present Regent College Apprentice, Marcel Hodge, the 2012 Individual Award.

Apprentice Marcel Hodge earns gold for Great Britain

Regent College Apprentice, Marcel Hodge, 20, recently came first in the 200 metres individual 4x2 relay at the INAS-FID Seventh World Indoor Athletics Championships held in Manchester. Marcel took the starting blocks for the 60m, 200m and 4x200m relay in the T20 category for athletes with an intellectual disability.

The rain for Husein puts prize money mainly in the frame

This stunning image is the winner of the Leicester Mercury latest photography competition.
Photography student Husein Abdisalam, 18, took the picture, which he has called Rainy Days, near his home in Braunstone, Leicester.
The snapper, who goes to Regent College, used a Nikon D300 and macro lens to get close up to the tiny droplets and plants, winning our Life-themed competition.

Deputy City Mayor finalises logo designs created by Regent College students

Deputy City Mayor, Rory Palmer, visited Regent College yesterday to judge the final three logo designs for the Leicester Child Poverty Commission. Nine graphic design students submitted their designs which Rory then whittled down to the final three.

Jake wins poster design for Joint Careers Convention

Students from both Regent College and QE were given the opportunity to enter a competition to design a poster for the Joint Careers Convention.  The competition was open to both colleges with a winner picked at each college. Students came back with some fantastic ideas, but the winning poster for Regent College was  designed by Jake Cabaniuk, 20, a Graphics, Art & Design student.
