Bedroom 2 Boardroom Young Entrepreneurs

Aspiring entrepreneurs got the opportunity to explore their business potential and turn their bedroom business ideas into reality, at an event organised by the Prince’s Trust.
Regent College students took part in the Bedroom2Boardroom event for 18-30 year olds interested in starting or growing their own business, which was held at the Nottingham Conference Centre. The students who are studying the BTEC Extended Diploma in Business, got to hear invaluable business tips from top entrepreneurs such as Richard Reed, founder of Innocent Drinks, Fraser Doherty of Superjam, and Alexander Amuso, the ringtone entrepreneur who became a millionaire by starting a business in his bedroom at the age of 14.
The group also attended a range of hands on, practical sessions on how to set up in business, marketing, branding, social media, presentation skills and financial support.
Kirill, 17, said: “ The event has given me lots of ideas about what I could do, so it’s boosted my motivation. It was definitely a positive experience for me. Richard from Innocent Drinks spoke on our level. It made me realise that not all businesses start off really well and not to give up.”
Aaron, 17, “The businesses were really friendly and interacting with us. The message was ‘don’t be afraid to think big, but start small’. The talks maintained my interest throughout the day as they quite humorous. I found out that the biggest barrier to starting your own business is money for the start up costs but I also found out about how how the Prince’s Trust and other organisations can help you with business start up loans. It was a good day, really inspiring.”
Duco, 17, said: “It was good, Richard Reed was very down to earth. it’s helped with my motivation and what I want to do in the future.”
