Politics students visit Parliament

5th December 2011
Over 40 Government and Politics and AS Citizenship students travelled to London on Friday to visit the Houses of Parliament. Knowledgeable guides took the keen students on a tour of both the Commons and Lords chambers and the historic Westminster Hall.
The opportunity to visit Parliament added to students understanding of, and enthusiasm for, Government and Politics. During the visit the group found out more about the history and traditions, ceremonies and procedures of the Palace of Westminster.
Student Umar said: “ I absolutely enjoyed the tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, it was really beneficial. It was a great experience to see how Parliament actually works.”
Teacher Jake Dodds said: “The AS students are preparing for their Government and Politics - Governing Modern Britain exam in January. The central topic to this unit is Parliament so the visit and tour of Parliament was a great way to solidify (and supplement) their knowledge.
"During the tour students were amazed by the splendour of the palaces and their rich history. The guides were highly skilled and answered all the weird and wonderful questions students throw at them.”
Regent College would like to thank the Wyggeston School Foundation for their kind support in part-funding this trip.
